Consider the War

Yes, "the War". Not "War"; that's the other guy, the one I really don't want to talk about right now.

Now that that's settled...

"How," you ask, can "the War be an effective Word? In order for a Word to be effective, doesn't it have to be something embraced by humanity? Isn't part of the point of the War to keep it secret from humanity?"

It's precognizance, I swear.

The fact of the matter is that humanity *does* know about the War, plain and simple. Every week people go to Church and hear about the great battle between good and evil. Every day people go to the movies - God, I love Nybbas - and watch utter tripe - but it's tripe that deals with the most basic of all conflicts, the never-ending battle between good - that's us - and evil.

They go home, and they believe, somewhere deep in their hearts, that there's a war being fought, between good and evil. They know this because good has to win, and if good has to win then by definition it needs something to win over.

That's what the War is. That's the War I fight - the War between Heaven and Hell - oh, they get that too, just look at the Revelation - the War between wrong and right, the War between evil and good. The fact that I happen to take it a little more literally than others might is of no concern to you.

Now. There aren't any more questions, are there?

I didn't think so.
